Marching Band


    Membership in Marching Band is open to students in grades 8 – 12 who have taken a Beginner Band Class or private lessons. At this time membership in Color Guard is open to grades 7 – 12 via try-outs held in the spring. Majorettes must be in grades 8 – 12, must have marched in Band for at least one year, and are also chosen at try-outs. Marching Band members are expected to take Band class and attend rehearsals. Presently, rehearsals start in late July or early August, and continue on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after the start of the school year. The marching band performs at all MHS football games, in parades, at Marching Band Festivals, and other events. All players must pay a uniform rental fee of $15.00. Other minor expenses such as shoes, gloves, etc. must be purchased. Fee $25.00

Concert Band


    This class is open to all players in the Marching Band, and other students that play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Concert Band has a few scheduled after school rehearsals, and performs a Spring Concert. Students in Concert Band also have the opportunity to participate in Honor Bands, All-State Band, and Solo Ensemble Festival.

9th-12th Grade

Chorus

    This class is an elective open to students with all levels of singing and musical ability, no prior musical experience is required. The Choir works on selections that feature 2, 3, and 4-part harmony using a variety of musical styles. Developing the student's ability to site read music is also emphasized.
