Marbury High School
"Northstars"
Marching Band
Director: Mr. Simpson
The Marbury High School Band and Concert Band exist to provide the band students with a comprehensive musical education in addition to providing the community with opportunities to attend concerts, parades, and enjoy half-time entertainment at football games. The students also learn valuable life skills such as how to be a leader, how to work together as a team, the importance of discipline when striving for success, and how positive attitudes lead to positive results. In addition, the social skills gained with band membership may be the most valuable lessons of all.
Several alumni of the "Northstars" have received college scholarships to participate in band programs at the college level. Nearly every year the band has at least one senior that takes advantage of this valuable financial assistance. We look forward to many more band students being awarded with these honors in the future.
A typical year for the "Northstars" includes two weeks of summer band camp, after school rehearsals from August to the end of October, ten or more half-time shows at football games, two Saturday marching contests, a Homecoming Parade, several pep rallies, the Prattville Christmas parade, the Christmas concert, the Spring concert, district band festival, and starting this year, possibly the state band festival. The band also enjoys a fun trip most years to Six Flags or other similar attraction in addition to the annual band banquet. The "Northstars" are a busy group that travel around the state representing Marbury High School and the community of Marbury in a "superior" manner.
The band director is David Simpson. Mr. Simpson loves Marbury High School and the Marbury High School Band, he wishes all of the students at Marbury all the best. Go Bulldogs and Go Northstars!!!!!!!!!!!!!
